@LogicLyfe, since when do student loans have anything to do with healthcare reform? Sounds a little fraudulent when cleverly packaged in the name of healthcare reform. The way I see things though as long as I’m paying my forced admission price to the Feds which unreasonably raises my monthly cost of living, the last thing I want to hear coming out of a corrupted govt is one that mandates healthcare and fines you if you don’t have coverage.
@LogicLyfe, also the cost of that 4 year degree has risen per semester. At my age I just simply cannot afford to be burning through that type of money per semester at a four year. If I want to educate myself now and in the future, I’ll stick to the simpler junior colleges and earn two year degrees. When college costs go out of scope of the public market where one has to choose between rent and education, I’ll handle my living expenses 1st and put education on the back burner.
Bush/Cheney removed regulations on the lenders & once a student missed a payment the rate soared to around 30%. Before long a $10K loan turned into $30K with all kinds of fee – and no bankruptcy or even death will keep it from soaring more. We needed to bring sanity back to the program.
Sounds like universities will contiue to have access to guranteed funds that will only ensure they can continue to increase tuition costs at an alarming rate in perpetuity. As always this is an example of the gov thinking they are solving a problem only to create new ones. And the people cheering eat it up.
Government take over?? What exactly is the government taking over when it comes to education? They have been funding poor students through subsidised loans, Pell grants, and other forms. They’re trying to stop private agencies from raising interest rates whenever they feel like it. Have any of you dumbasses ever paid for your own education before? It’s fucking expensive. It’s also nerveracking to know Sallie Mae could raise your interest rate to 25% if she wanted to.
Oh My. Run! Hide! Obama is up to his fascist, marxist, maoist, nazi tactics again. What a terrible thing…..run for the hills. Imagine! Making it easier for our kids to atten college… A conspiracy….he’s trying to take over our youth and turn them into brown shirts. Oh……woe is me!!!!

How about stopping student loans all together so that Colleges can’t charge outrageous prices for an education even the dumbest of students can figure out is a rip off? Now, all you’ve done is force more dependency on the government. But thats what you really want isn’t it?
